Gluteal tendinopathy / greater trochanteric pain syndrome

Gluteal tendinopathy, often grouped under greater trochanteric pain syndrome, causes pain on the outer side of the hip. It usually involves irritation of the tendons that help stabilize the pelvis during walking and standing. The discomfort may become more noticeable when lying on one side, climbing stairs, or walking for longer distances.
